It’s that time of year when a nice warm mug of hot chocolate seems to make everything all cozy both inside and out. If you’re used to opening up a packet of hot cocoa mix you are getting a mug full of ingredients that aren’t health building. In fact a mug full of packaged hot chocolate is inflammatory and immune suppressing.

Ginger: Rich in potassium which is excellent for digestion, relieving nausea and protecting our body from inflammation.
Raw Cacao: Rich in antioxidants, essentials vitamins and minerals, and improve cardiac health, reduce appetite and boost mood and energy.
Turmeric: Contains curcumin which is a potent antioxidant, liver detoxifier, is anti-inflammatory, and has also been shown to block cancer.
Cinnamon: Contains anti-inflammatory, ant-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic properties. It also aids in balancing blood sugar and increases blood circulation.
Cardamom: Good for cardiovascular health, promotes digestion and oral health, immune booster and is anti-inflammatory.

Healing Hot Chocolate

Ingredients
1/2 cups almond or coconut milk, unsweetened
1/2 tsp. fresh ginger, grated
2 Tbsp. raw cacao powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. cardamom
1/4 tsp. turmeric
1/8 tsp. sea salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. raw honey
1 Tbsp. coconut oil
Instructions
In a small sauce pan over medium heat add the almond milk and grated ginger.
Allow to simmer for 10 minutes.
Combine the cacao, salt, and spices together and whisk into warmed milk.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla, honey and coconut oil.
Strain into a mug and enjoy!
